One challenge for iPhone reporters is controlling your surroundings while recording your voice track. Rule of thumb: record your track in the same environment you interviewed your subject — the natural sound behind your voice will match the natural sound behind your newsmaker. Recording indoors is much trickier, since your voice will bounce off walls and ceilings and be picked up by the microphone several times, creating a hollow sound. To deaden the sound, create a small, tight ‘recording booth’ between pillows, and place your iPhone toward the rear of the enclosure.
